ooc: HMD

I strive to portray every character I play to the best of my ability, but the only way to know if I'm successful is through feedback. I welcome and encourage constructive comments, be they positive or negative, and take every comment into consideration. For your comfort, anonymous commenting is on and IP address logging is off.

Feedback on my gameplay is especially helpful; journal-based games differ from my tabletop RP roots. If I'm doing anything glaringly wrong, please please please point it out so that I may correct it!

Other feedback is welcome too: from my icons and layout to my tagging style and frequency, I appreciate and take into consideration any and all comments. Being close to something makes it hard to see the flaws; please be my eyes where my own vision fails. Please note that I did the layout with a widescreen monitor (1440 x 900) in mind; if it is too impossible to read on other screen resolutions, I would appreciate a heads-up as that's not something I can check from here. Custom comment pages are disabled, however, to make individual posts easier to read.

If I've dropped a thread you wished to continue, please don't hesitate to poke me about it! Most likely I've gotten distracted by life and clean forgotten about it. I'm very likely to be willing to pick it right back up, however; just give me a nudge and a reminder.

I've tried to make the OOC posts on this journal as comprehensive as possible for my character and his interactions. If you feel there's anything I've left off or anything that needs clarification, please let me know and I'll be happy to add it in. You can reach me by dropping a comment here, sending me a PM, finding me at my personal journal [personal profile] sometimesamuse, or nudging me on AIM at the screenname "KittsieCat". My email address is available on request; I just prefer not to list it publicly.

❦ 07 [Video]

[It may be near to a week after Easter, but some people don't need the effects of an enchanted egg to grace Demeleier's residents with their dulcet tones. Jareth is reclined by the riverside, looking every inch the King he is in his own realm. He's once again playing a crystal in his hand -- this time only one; no fancy dexterous maneuvers with multiple orbs today -- and he regards it as one would another person. Indeed, he smiles as if at something he sees in its depths, then starts to sing, serenading it.]

[At the end of the song he smiles into the communicator and reaches over to turn off the feed. Yes, Demeleier, he might be a bit of a show-off.]

[ooc: If your character wants to action tag it up, feel free to come find him as well! He's just chillin' by the water and will be there from late morning through the bulk of the afternoon.]

❦ 06 [Video]

It is amazing how quickly one forgets one's commitments to this thing, when one misplaces it for what feels but a mere moment.

[The first is spoken softly; it is unclear whether Jareth is musing to himself or to an audience -- one would likely suspect the latter, as the communicator was deliberately turned on, rather than the button being accidentally pressed in the middle of the sentence. Jareth himself looks contemplative, lounging as he is at the foot of a great tree, one gloved hand delicately tapping his chin.]

Seasons, and time, and all of it so carefully constructed. A whole world shrunk to pocket-sized; a corner of a corner in which the pieces are collected. But the game remains still unclear, does it not? One would be tempted to comment on the fairness of it all-- [here a soft laugh, as at an inside joke] --if one were so inclined to such folly.

Perhaps I am merely curious today.

[The hand comes away from his chin, a perfectly round crystal ball forming on his pursed fingertips; it flashes briefly in the light before Jareth cuts the feed.]

❦ 05 [Voice]

[Backdated to just after the Guardian's latest post. He speaks only five words, but those five have deep meaning, considering what and who he is; it is unclear whether he addresses the fae or the mortals.]

You are alone in this.

❦ 04 [Voice]

[Jareth sounds less than impressed; were he back home, he would alternately be lounging on his throne and kicking at whatever goblin wandered too close (their squeals were both satisfying and cathartic). As it is there's a faint tapping of a riding crop against a boot; the one he found is a poor replacement for his own, but it would have to do for the time being.]

I do hope you're all back to yourselves now; whatever had this place stirred up certainly made singing the woman by the river back into submission rather more difficult.

[His voice turns a little colder and, while it's addressed to one person, he doesn't bother with filters or locks or anything. He knows they won't do him any good; she'd answer on her whim, or not.]

Titania, what the hell were you thinking?

❦ 03 [Video]

[The video comes on, and comes to focus on the river. There's a fideal drifting at the shore, singing and holding her arms out beseechingly. Her song is beautiful, sad, plaintive, filled with longing. Jareth chuckles softly as the images whirls and blurs; he's moving the communicator as he speaks.]

She seems lonely, doesn't she? What a pity.

[His legs and torso come into clear focus: he's bent down to prop the communicator up on something (a rock maybe), and is now standing and stepping back from it to face the fideal. She reaches for him; in response, he holds out his own arm. She looks hopeful drifting closer, and he lets her have that hope until their fingers just barely touch. Then he opens his own mouth.]

You remind me of the babe.

[She looks horrified, because his words, his song, also has power. Jareth's expression twists into a smirk as he continues the song. The video records the entire encounter, and the way the fideal is repelled by his singing. She leaves halfway through the song, sinking down into the dark waters, but Jareth continues to sing without his audience. When the song reaches its completion, he crosses back to the communicator, winks at it, and ends the feed.]

[ooc: the link above goes to a video on youtube. The link to download the song because I love you guys so much is here -- this is also how the residents of Demeleier will hear it, as opposed to the movie version (in other words, uninterrupted singing as opposed to having the little scenes with Sarah). Also, information on the fideal is here in the Demeleier info post.]

[ooc2: so, here's the deal: I have a petticoat for a costume that I would absolutely like to finish as much work on today as possible, but sewing on the layers of tulle ruffles -- 25 yards long each -- is a b!tch and a half. As such, my replies here may not be the quickest thing in the world, but I made this post to motivate myself: each time I finish a tulle layer, I'm allowed to come back here and tag in between. A good plan, yes? So, excuse the slowness, please!]

❦ 02 [Voice]

On the suggestion of several who made themselves known over this device, I have made my way to the village. There was no answer at the temple, and I am not appreciative of being kept waiting. I will take my audience here.

[Those listening may get the impression that he's addressed that to either the Guardian or the Fairy Queen; the supposition would be correct (not that he will necessarily acknowledge it, of course).]

Whosoever placed this iron shoe above my door is requested to remove it immediately.

[That statement is addressed to the non-fae residents of Demeleier. And, from the inflection, it's clear that it is certainly much more an order than a request.]

[ooc: so, there's a horsehoe above Jareth's door, and he obviously wants it taken down. If you would like for your character to have been the one to put it there, let me know and we'll work it out. Otherwise he'll just never know how it got there or I will blame my other character, lol.]

❦ 01 [Voice]

Rowan. Always a curious material, is it not?

[The voice, warm and rich, contains a hint of carefully-crafted amusement -- a strange reaction to waking in a strange land, perhaps, but Jareth is not one to be outwardly honest about his thoughts and feelings.]

If course, there is the fact that I don't remember having an appointment with anyone who favored it. Now, I may have forgotten with all of the excitement lately, but a simple reminder would have done just as well, don't you agree?

[There are a few soft noises: the sounds of someone standing, brushing himself off, and putting his clothing in order. Then there is the soft clink of what almost sounds like glass and another chuckle.]

That's much better. Now, it's time for you to come out of hiding, isn't it? I don't like to be kept waiting.

[ooc: probably should have noted this when I first posted, but tags are fitted around my work schedule, so apologies if they come at weird times or with long pauses between!]
