[The voice, warm and rich, contains a hint of carefully-crafted amusement -- a strange reaction to waking in a strange land, perhaps, but Jareth is not one to be outwardly honest about his thoughts and feelings.]

If course, there is the fact that I don't remember having an appointment with anyone who favored it. Now, I may have forgotten with all of the excitement lately, but a simple reminder would have done just as well, don't you agree?

[There are a few soft noises: the sounds of someone standing, brushing himself off, and putting his clothing in order. Then there is the soft clink of what almost sounds like glass and another chuckle.]

That's much better. Now, it's time for you to come out of hiding, isn't it? I don't like to be kept waiting.

[For to Jareth, the communicator reminds him of a walkie-talkie, with which he is familiar due to his observation of the human realm. He's never seen one so small though, and the voice coming through it is surprisingly clear. His own tone retains its indulgent interest, though shifting very barely to more forceful -- it's a subtle vocal nuance, and might not be picked up by those who don't know him.]

'New' is rather a qualitative term, isn't it? Surely you must have a basis of comparison to use it...?

[Well, at least the newcomer's voice was pleasing to his ears, causing his own tired voice to perk a little in response.]

Hiding?

[Sitting up on one of the trees is a young man. Or perhaps he's an old man. It's difficult to tell; his form ripples and shifts, like sunlight dancing off of a river.

He springs from his perch, landing lightly on nimble feet.]

A puck never hides, m'lord! He loiters with intent, true, not hiding? Why, if people simply looked closely, he'd be in plain sight!

[He folds himself into a bow.]

But if he were to hide from the awe-inspiring Goblin King, would you blame him?

[Jareth, for his part, draws himself together as best he can; it would not do to give the impression that he was at all out of his element. The white, feathery folds of his garments fall softly into place, and with the flick of a wrist, the crystals he'd been idly twirling in his hand dissipate into thin air.]

Perhaps I would; perhaps I would not. That would depend entirely on how much information he would impart, and how few tricks he would apply in doing so.
